About
Ikiala is an adventurous journey that begins on the beautiful island of Madagascar, where the diversity of nature represents an important wealth of the country. According to a long tradition, natural materials are extracted there and used by many craftsmen in different regions for generations to produce handicrafts.
We work in a direct partnership with talented artisans from small family businesses to produce a collection of home and fashion accessories. This is characterized by the combination of traditional processing technology and modern, timeless design.
Our products are made entirely by hand from natural, sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. The production is “Moramora” (Malagasy for slow or quiet) because we have great respect for the fact that every person has their own rhythm and that manual work takes time. Our focus is therefore much more on quality than quantity. Our pieces are only produced in a limited number and are unique with their small special features.
At the heart of our project are women who produce our products with love and care and depend on their daily work to be able to feed their families. You accompany us hand in hand on our journey and we have you to thank for what we have achieved to date. Therefore we are called Ikiala, which in the Malagasy language can be used to address female people or can be translated as “she”. In order to support and strengthen your financial independence, we strive for sustainable and fair income through personal and long-term collaboration with our partners.
